LOCATION: Private classroom in Westerville, OH. Range time will be at Cardinal Pistol Range.

DESCRIPTION: The A Girl & A Gun Red Dot Essentials is a dynamic 3.5 – 4-hour course built for shooters ready to build confidence and skill with pistol-mounted optics. Designed for those transitioning from iron sights or looking to overcome common red dot challenges, this class delivers practical tools and proven techniques that make a difference on the range.

 

Participants explore how red dot optics work, with focused instruction on fast dot acquisition, maintaining accuracy through recoil, and refining visual discipline. Purposeful,

easy-to-follow drills are included to strengthen performance both on the range and during dry fire at home.

 

Led by certified A Girl & A Gun instructors in a supportive and welcoming environment, this course empowers shooters to take control of their red dot journey with clarity and confidence and walk away with a clear plan for continued growth.

PREREQUSITES: 

• AG & AG Intro to Handgun or equivalent experience​

​

GEAR REQUIREMENTS:

• Eye Protection & Hearing Protection

• A functional semi-automatic handgun in .22lr, .380, or 9mm

• Handgun MUST have pistol mounted optic pre-installed

• Optic MUST be zeroed for either 10, 15, or 25 yards

• Optic user manual and sight adjustment tools

• Spare optic battery

• Minimum of three magazines

• 150 - 200 rounds of factory ammunition

• Notepad and pen strongly recommended

RECOMMENDED ATTIRE:

• Climate appropriate: High collar shirt. No low-cut/V-neck tops!

• Pants, with BELT LOOPS for holstered shooters

• Ballcap recommended

• Closed-toe shoes

 

Please note that we will have NO LIVE AMMO in the classroom area during the first part of class. You will need your UNLOADED firearm, sturdy belt, holster, TWO UNLOADED magazines and magazine holder for the classroom portion of the day. Firearms will need to remain bagged until "cleared and roped" by an instructor.
